We don't just preach local. We ARE local. 

Hometown Radio Group  is the only locally owned and operated mainstream media in the Minot region. All other broadcast and print media are owned and operated by out of state corporations.  

Hometown Radio Group has spent more than two decades investing in the communities we serve while working to earn the trust of the public, and the trust of our advertisers as the area’s only locally owned and operated mainstream media.  

As an advertiser, when you spend your hard-earned advertising dollars with the Hometown Radio Group, you can be confident that your money goes directly into a local bank, and is circulated within our local communities.

It all started in 2002 when we launched Sunny 101.9 in Bottineau. We took what was a small-town station and turned it into a full-service powerhouse that dominates all of north central North Dakota and blasts into dozens of Canadian communities along the border.

In 2005, we brought local radio back to the Minot region by building two brand new FM stations. From the moment 94-9 the ZOO and 102-9 WGO hit the airwaves, we immediately set out to re-educate the community on how local radio should be.  

• We put more than $400,000 of sheetrock into the homes of flooded residents when we created I Helped Rebuild Minot. 
• We created the Buy Local Pledge for local businesses. 
• We introduced the Million Minute Pledge to community service. 
• We raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for exercise rehab for cancer patients through Tough Enough to Wear Pink. 
• We have stuffed thousands of backpacks through the Backpack Buddies radio campaign. 
• And we continue to donate millions of dollars in free ad time to countless non-profit events across north central North Dakota.

We have worked hard to become the go-to radio group for advertisers and non-profit  groups across the region.

Our staff is a dedicated group of seasoned professionals, many of whom  have worked as Minot broadcasters for their entire careers. Our owners grew up in Minot and reside here, working alongside their employees every day.
