The Ward County Sheriff's Department is in need of a new K9
to protect and serve the citizens of Ward County.
This program is not funded in any way by taxpayer money. We rely entirely on donations from our community - from people like you!
Because of their specialized skills, training a new K9 to be ready for the field can take a year or more. Training continues well after that, before the new officer is considered fully operational. This is why we need to purchase a new K9 partner now, so he or she is fully-trained before Baxi reaches his well-deserved retirement. We intend to continue this cycle every four years to ensure that the citizens of Ward County remain protected by a fully-trained K9 at all times.
The initial cost of a new
K9 working dog is $35,000.
That's a lot of money, we know! But just ask Baxi and his handler if he's worth it. They would both give two paws up!
The ongoing veterinary care, food, equipment, training, and other expenses associated with the K9 aren't covered by taxpayer funds either.
A generous donation from you today can mean big things for the safety of your community tomorrow. Any amount is greatly appreciated and will go directly toward our K9 Program.
K9 Crime Fighters is a joint effort between the Hometown Radio Group, the Ward County Sheriff's Department, and the Minot Area Community Foundation.
Helping our community is our specialty! We pride ourselves on being the local media company that non-profits within our listening are can count on for help.
When the Hometown Radio Group learned about the need for a new K9 we knew we could help! We created K9 Crime Fighters to raise funds for this vital program.
Home of the Ward County K9 Program. This is where the K9's work, protecting your community round the clock. They are beloved members of the Sheriff's Department. They work alongside their human counterparts every day, and go home with their human partners every night.
The Minot Area Community Foundation is well known for helping great causes in Ward County, and K9 Crime Fighters definitely fits that description. Thanks to the MACF for handling all the fine details of making sure your donation are collected and distributed to the K9 Crime Fighters Fund.
Our website is still under construction. More K9 content will be added soon. Keep checking back as we continue to tell the story of the Ward County K9 Crime Fighters.
