Featured Position:

FORESTRY TECHNICIAN

Annual Salary Range: 

$39,677.00 To $54,923.00


Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. lncumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.

  • Provides assistance in maintaining the district’s urban forest in a safe and healthy manner.
  • Operates various types of heavy equipment including dump trucks, bobcats, pay loaders, tractors, tree spades, stump grinders, brush chippers, and boom trucks.
  • Participates in landscape projects including planting park and boulevard trees.
  • Trims, prunes, tops, and cuts down trees throughout the district; removes tree roots and stumps.
  • Responds to public inquiries and consults with homeowners regarding forestry related matter
  • Inspects trees and shrubs and diagnoses issues with insects and/or diseases.
  • Removes split and damaged limbs from trees.
  • Assists in removing fallen trees and/or tree limbs from buildings and cars as required.
  • Provides assistance in selecting tree species for planting and/or preparing landscape plans.
  • May supervise work activities and/or provide training to assigned personnel as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.


Education and Experience:

Associate's Degree in Forestry, AND three years urban forestry experience preferred, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Minot Park District will be willing to train the right individual.


Required Licenses or Certifications:

  • Must possess a valid North Dakota Commercial Driver's License or willing to obtain.
  • International Society of Arborists (ISA) and First Aid/CPR certifications or willing to obtain.


Required Knowledge of:

  • Principles and practices of urban forestry.
  • Various types of equipment and tools common to forestry work.
  • Safety protocols relative to equipment operation
  • Tree trimming and removal processes.


Required Skill in:

  • Coordinating and performing a variety of forestry functions.
  • Providing assistance in maintaining the district’s urban forest in a safe and healthy manner.
  • Accurately diagnosing tree insects and diseases.
  • Safely operating and maintaining departmental equipment and tools.


Work Environment:

  • Work is performed primarily outdoors and involves equipment operation, working at heights, and lifting of objects weighing up to 100 pounds.

Forestry Technician-Details


Featured Position:

MAYSA RINK ATTENDANT


Salary Range: 

$13.50 Hourly Onwards


General Purpose:

Provides assistance in maintaining and coordinating MAYSA  Arena operations and activities.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. lncumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be require to perform additional position specific duties.

  • Maintain Rental Skates
  • Perform custodial work inside and outside of arena facility.
  • Ability to operate floor scrubbing machines, vacuum cleaners, snow blowers, Kaivac, buffer and other cleaning equipment.
  • Coordinate public activities.
  • Collect funds for public skating events or ice and non-ice rentals as required.
  • Monitor public skating events to ensure all arena guidelines are followed and safety is enforced.
  • Set up tables, chairs, staging and bleachers, as necessary.
  • Supervise, communicate and guide staff members
  • Work varying schedules not limited to nights, weekends, and holidays.

General Duties: Cleaning Locker Rooms, Cleaning Locker Room Bathrooms & Shower Rooms, Cleaning Arena Bleachers, Cleaning Arena Restrooms, Cleaning Hallways, Lobby's, Concessions Area, Light Snow Removal and Salting, Changing Garbage's, Cleaning Windows and Arena Glass, Vacuuming Carpet Area's, Assist with moving Nets during games and practices, possible Zamboni driver training in future.  These are most but not all of the duties of the position.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.


Required Licenses or Certifications:

  •  Must possess a valid North Dakota Driver's License and have a clean driving record.
