TOWNER STATE NURSERY IS NOW HIRING A NURSERY EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN

Here is your chance to work for one of the top  conservation nurseries in America!  The Towner State Nursery, located in Towner, ND is now hiring a Nursery Equipment Technician.

NURSERY EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN

This position assists with all essential tree production tasks over the nursery field season with a special emphasis on equipment operation and maintenance. 


DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES, ABILITIES, and REQUIREMENTS

Duties and Responsibilities include :

  • Maintain and Service of all equipment, facilities, and infrastructure  including but not limited to tractors, skid steers, attachments, vehicles, lifters, transplanters, packaging and grading equipment, irrigation equipment, mowers, greenhouse equipment, UTVs.
  •  Assist with modification of specialized nursery equipment.
  • Assist with the maintenance and servicing of nursery facilities and infrastructure.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on all servicing and maintenance of equipment and provide annual reports to nursery staff.
  • Assisting with field irrigation, greenhouse operation, packaging of tree orders, field weeding, seed collection and processing, and transplanting. 
  • Operation of equipment and assisting with all field/greenhouse production activities and special projects. 
  • Participate in Nursery and State Forests Team Meetings, Initiatives, and Trainings. Assist other agency programs as directed. 


Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Equipment maintenance and operation skills. 
  • Communication and organizational skills. 
  • Computer knowledges of microsoft programs.


QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

 Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Associates degree in Mechanics with an emphasis in diesel technology, industrial maintenance, farm equipment maintenance 
  • OR 2 years of directly related experience operating and maintaining equipment in an agricultural setting. 
  • Valid driver's license. 


Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of plant growth and water needs. 
  • Experience with irrigation equipment. 
  • Basic computer skills – email, word processing, spreadsheets. Class B CDL.


Core Competencies: 

  • Equipment maintenance and operation skills. 
  • Communication and organizational skills.
